DHITS
By Lou Ferrucci
SpinSys attended the 2019 Defense Health Information Technology Symposium (DHITS) in support of our federal customers and sponsors. We are proud to provide the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic and Defense Health Agency (DHA) with sustainment and continuous enhancement of IT resources, performance, and efficiency to meet its operational and benefits mission!
In Orlando Florida, the annual DHITS once again provided an exceptional venue for DHA to showcase industry-leading initiatives, celebrate another successful year of innovation, and share the vision for the future with Information Technology (IT) thought leadership. SpinSys provides a key role in Medical Data Services (MDS) and Defense Health Community of Interest (DHCOI) support of NIWC, DHA’s Solution Delivery Division (SDD), and Enterprise Intelligence & Data Solutions (EIDS) Program Office.Â
DHITS 2019 included attendees from various components of the Military Health System (MHS), Department of Veterans Affairs, other federal agencies, and private industry. DHA Director Vice Admiral Bono set the tone for proactive change management as DHA continues to welcome more MHS facilities into the administrative fold, provides Desktop to Datacenter (D2D) in waves to standardize health IT service lines, implements MHS Genesis across the enterprise, and embraces cloud computing. Mr. Flanders, DHA’s Deputy Assistant Director for Information Operations, reinforced DHA’s commitment to providing resources commensurate with the horizon of changes to include Ektropy – a customized web-based program and portfolio management solution providing an unprecedented relational view among cost, contracts, personnel, and programs across the MHS. Â
Keynotes, plenary sessions, and topic-specific breakouts provided a palpable focus on the continuous sharpening of efficiency and effectiveness around the MHS, within the DHA, and among federal Departments. The exhibit hall was buzzing with camaraderie and information technology for current and future solutions. Our expertise – with data ingestion, warehousing, transformation, and interoperability; IT infrastructure provision and maintenance; sustainment and enhancement of CarePoint as DHA’s enterprise information delivery portal to improve healthcare quality, access, and delivery across the MHS; and Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud eco-system provisioning, operations, and solution migration – bolsters DHA’s vast portfolio at on-premises data centers and within the cloud for enhanced analytics, research, and operational medicine.
SpinSys stands ready to continue and build upon our Industry Partner support of NIWC and DHA to execute the mission in providing the “Medically Ready Force…Ready Medical Force†showcased at this years’ DHITS. We look forward to the continued journey and value our role on the larger team providing the very best for our Nation’s warfighters, veterans, and their families!
SpinSys was pleased to co-sponsor a Happy Hour event on Wednesday evening and enjoyed the company of several hundred DHITS attendees. It was a great evening with existing and new acquaintances all interested in advancing Defense Health IT – hope to see you there next year!
